Mux-16 Event Interface

The MUX-16 is an event counter capable of reading 16 separate counter channels using only one analog channel on the 800 or 900 Easy Logger Field Unit. The interface is commonly used with tipping bucket rain gauges.

When the Easy logger scans the MUX-16 it records the counts that have occurred since the last scan interval. On completion of each scan it resets all 16 counters to zero. Each MUX-16 channel has a capacity of 1000 counts per scan interval. Counts are read as a 0-5 voltage, each switch closure increments the MUX-16 counter by ~ .005 volts.

The MUX-16 is powered by an external 12v battery (not supplied) which could also power the Easy Logger Field Unit.

Each tipping bucket is connected to the MUX-16 by two wires; one is channel specific, the other a common ground wire.
